When you are buying domestically, what do you do if you encounter consequential issues with a supplier? You’d most likely request a meeting, and sort it out face to face.
When buying from Vietnam, however, it’s a different story. Most likely your staff is liaising a salesperson in the Vietnamese organization, which is usually run like a more hierarchical structure than we are used to in the west. The salesperson rarely has authority to do what is needed – nor the necessary insight and understanding of your situation. So It can seem like getting nowhere…
Here are some examples of situations, where the Factory Patrol service could be a godsend for you at an almost negligible cost.
- You have requested a sample from a supplier, but they keep delaying. A visit and a face-to-face meeting with the senior decision maker(s) will reveal the true reason – and often the way to get the action we need emerges as obvious and simple.
- Production completion and shipping keeps being delayed. Again, a visit and face-to-face, combined with a feel for what is going on with the big picture for the factory will typically make the best decisions and course of actions obvious.
- A factory claims to be able to make a certain product, but you are not sure they are – a Visit will either make it obvious that they don’t – or give you peace of mind so you can move to the next level.
- A factory who holds your deposit has stopped responding. I will go and visit them and find out why.
- You have already received a sample which took months to make and on receipt it was faulty. You want to make sure this doesn’t repeat. I visit and do a full objective report on the second sample.
- You need the price to come down 5% before ordering. This is much easier to achieve in a face-to-face.
