Why a Factory Funneling Process is Essential in Vietnam
Choosing the right factory in Vietnam is crucial for your project’s success. At S2U Design, we follow a detailed, step-by-step factory funneling process to ensure you partner with the best manufacturer for your specific needs—while safeguarding your intellectual property and saving valuable time.
Here’s our process:
- Setting Criteria – Together, We set factory criteria based on your project. Criteria depends on what is important for your specific project to succeed, but it could be things like Capacity, Acceptable MOQ, Certifications and compliance, Available Technology.
- Factory Selection – We identify 10 potential factories. Through visits we assess technology, experience, and understanding of drawings. The top three are selected for quotes.
- Packaging & Cost Details – Specifications for finish, packaging, and other cost drivers are finalized.
- RFQ (Request for Quote) – Comprehensive RFQs are sent to the top three factories to avoid later misunderstandings. Quotations are received.
- Negotiation – We analyze factory pricing, negotiate directly with decision-makers, and adjust drawings to reduce costs where feasible. Revised drawings are signed by all parties.
This approach prevents common mistakes, like sending requests for quotations (RFQs) to random factories. Doing so not only wastes time dealing with unsuitable manufacturers but also risks exposing your technical drawings and product ideas to unqualified factories. These factories may lack the experience, knowledge, or equipment to execute your project properly—or worse, misuse your designs.
By waiting to send RFQs until we’ve identified three fully vetted and qualified factories, we ensure your project’s integrity and confidentiality while focusing your efforts on the most capable partners.
